What is Advanced Accounting Utilities for AIX?
These utilities complement the AIX® Advanced Accounting facility in AIX 5.3 by reading accounting files and generating reports using both command lines and Web technologies. The package includes a command line Java™ reader/reporter and a J2EE application. Users with little knowledge about AIX Advanced Accounting facility can use the J2EE application to manage the facility and generate reports.
How does it work?
The Java reader/reporter reads an advanced accounting file and list its records one by one or reports statistics. It uses Java NIO mapped files for high-performance file access.
The J2EE application includes two Web services for program-to-program communication: a metering Web service for reporting statistics; and a management Web service for managing the AIX Advanced Accounting facility. It also includes a Web application that uses a MVC (Model-View-Control) approach with JSPs for presentation and a servlet as the Web services' client to control and update views and models. A Java Native Interface (JNI) shared library is provided to integrate the Web application with system library routines.
