Update: December 12, 2006 ADIEU for PHP 1.1 contains additional features not available in the Java version, such as support for Mozilla Firefox and Web Service cards. Both PHP and Java versions of ADIEU are available.

1. Is it possible to create Web services and Web applications without coding in Java?

Yes, you can create them by combining cards (software components). The cards can be created with combinations of existing cards or can be implemented in Java by extending the existing classes.

2. Must developers install ADIEU on their own PC?

No. The development environment is on a Web browser (currently only Microsoft Internet Explorer is supported). Once ADIEU is installed on WebSphere Application Server or Tomcat, the developers need not install any components on their own PC.

3. The log-in page doesn't appear.

A possible reason is that the Java applet version is old. Please check and update if necessary.

4. What should I do after deployment to the application server?

At a minimum, the following two settings should be set in {$ADIEU_HOME}\WEB-INF\adieu.properties:

5. This technology is listed as a member of the ETTK. What does that mean?

The Emerging Technologies Toolkit (ETTK) is a collection of emerging technologies that are relevant to IBM's emerging software strategies. The ETTK team works with external users to incubate and further develop these technologies so they can be used to create innovative customer solutions. ETTK packages are focused on just a few select technology areas. In a way, you could associate "ETTK"-labeled technologies as being close to "alphaWorks Featured Technologies." ETTK technologies explore new types of applications or address emerging application-, Internet-, or standard-oriented domains. We value your input and want to hear how you would make use of this technology in your environment; please visit the ETTK Blog or ETTK Wiki for additional information.
