Platform requirements

Operating systems: Linux®, Windows®

Software:

  • Tivoli® Access Manager, Version 5.1. (All platforms supported by TAM 5.1 are expected to be suitable, unless otherwise stated for a specific component of this technology.)
  • Eclipse: Elements of this technology are provided as plug-ins for Eclipse-based environments. Every effort has been made to have them work with Rational® Software Architect and Rational Application Developer. These plug-ins can not be installed in a generic Eclipse environment due to their dependence on other IBM® provided plug-ins.

Installation instructions

The technology is packaged as an Eclipse feature.

  1. Choose a directory on the file system in which to store your plug-ins. (For example, on Windows, you might choose C:\Program Files\Tivoli\amslm.) Create this subdirectory if it doesn't already exist. This directory will be referred to as <AMSLM> in the remainder of these instructions.
  2. Unzip the com.ibm.am.radpi.update_<version>.zip file in the <AMSLM> directory. This will create com.ibm.am.radpi.update and license directories.
  3. Open the Help > Software Updates > Find and Install menu item.
  4. Select Search for new features to install and click on Next.
  5. Click on New Local Site. Select the <AMSLM>/com.ibm.am.radpi.update directory and click on Open.
  6. An entry for com.ibm.am.radpi.update should be displayed in the list. Check this entry and click on Next.
  7. A list of features will appear. This list will contain IBM Tivoli Access Manager Plug-ins. Check this entry and click on Next. If the correct prerequisites are not available, then the Next button will not be enabled and an error message will appear.
  8. Accept the terms of the license agreement.
  9. Select the directory in which to install the plug-in (the eclipse directory is a good place). Click on Finish. Click on Install.
  10. Click on Yes to restart the workbench.
  11. Delete the com.ibm.am.radpi.update directory from the <AMSLM> directory.
  12. After restarting RAD, select the Help > Help Topics menu item.
  13. Select the IBM Tivoli Access Manager topic on the left-hand window. It will display more detailed usage instructions.

Updating the feature

  1. Unzip the com.ibm.am.radpi.update_<version>.zip file in the the <AMSLM> directory. This will create com.ibm.am.radpi.update and license directories.
  2. Open the Help > Software Updates > Find and Install menu item.
  3. Select Search for updates of currently installed features and click on Next.
  4. If a new version of the com.ibm.am.radpi feature is available, it will be returned in a list. Check this entry and click on Next.
  5. Accept the terms of the license agreement.
  6. Click on Finish.
  7. Click on Install.
  8. Click on Yes to restart the workbench.
  9. Delete the com.ibm.am.radpi.update directory from the <AMSLM> directory.

Uninstalling the feature

  1. Open the Help > Software Updates > Manage Configuration menu item.
  2. In the left-hand window, expand the "site" (that is, the directory) in which the feature was installed. Select the IBM Tivoli Access Manager Plug-ins entry and click on the Uninstall link in the righthand window.
  3. Select OK for confirmation and Yes in order to restart the workbench.

Note: This procedure uninstalls only the latest version of the feature. The old version will still be present on the file system but will be disabled. In order to completely remove the feature, all the directories beginning with com.ibm.am.radpi must be manually deleted from the features and plugins sub-directories.
