Application Privacy Monitoring for JDBC

A technology preview providing a Java library for adding privacy policy enforcement to existing Web applications that use JDBC/SQL.

Platform requirements

Operating systems: Windows®; 2000 Professional or Windows XP Professional

Hardware:

  • Intel® Pentium® III processor 500 MHz or faster
  • 512 MB RAM or more recommended
  • 256 MB hard disk space (does not include hard disk space for DB2®, Tivoli® Privacy Manager, and Tivoli Access Manager, since those are optional).

Software:

  • IBM® WebSphere® Application Server Base Edition 5.0 or IBM WebSphere Application Server Enterprise Edition 5.0 or above (the enterprise version is needed for ContextStore module)
  • IBM Tivoli Privacy Manager (TPM) 1.2
  • monitor_support.jar and refmon.jar from TPM 1.2
  • privacyContext.jar (here on alphaWorks®)
  • For Tivoli Privacy Manager:
    • IBM WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition 5.0.1
    • IBM Tivoli Access Manager for e-business 3.9
    • IBM DB2 Universal Database 7.2.1 or 8.1.1
  • For CarDealer Sample: IBM DB2 Universal Database 7.2 or above.

Installation instructions

  1. Unzip the following files into the directory of your choice:
    • JDBCSQLPrivacyMonitoring.zip (Java™ library and documentation)
    • JSPM_Sample.zip (sample Java code)

    Unzipping JDBCSQLPrivacyMonitoring.zip creates the following directory structure:

    • JDBCSQLPrivacyMonitoring: a top-level directory containing the following files:
      • readme.txt -- start-up information and links to everything else
      • guide.pdf -- overview of APM4JDBC
      • jspm.jar -- APM4JDBC binary code for inclusion in application EAR files
      • JSPM.properties -- templates of configuration file used with jspm.jar.
    • JDBCSQLPrivacyMonitoring\javadoc: javadocs for APM4JDBC classes

    Unzipping JSPM_Sample.zip creates the following directory structure:

    • JSPM_Sample: a top-level directory containing the following files:
      • cardealer.ear -- to be installed in WebSphere Application Server 5
      • cardealer.jar -- run-time binary of this demonstration package
      • cardealer_source.jar -- source code of this demonstration package
      • readme.txt -- start-up information and links to everything else.
    • JSPM_Sample\setup: demonstration, usage guide, and set-up commands.
  2. To get started, open the JDBCSQLPrivacyMonitoring\readme.txt and guide.pdf files.
