Platform requirements for Cache Advisor

Operating systems: Windows® 2000 (not been fully tested on other platforms, but Windows 2003 and XP should also work)

Hardware:

  • Intel® Pentium® III 733 MHz or above
  • RAM: 512 MB (recommended)

Java version: Java 1.4.1 or above

Installation instructions for Cache Advisor

  1. Unzip CacheAdvisor.zip into a directory (for example: C:\CacheAdvisor).
  2. Set up your JAVA_HOME environment variable (for example: set JAVA_HOME=C:\JDK_1.4.1).
  3. In order to start Cache Advisor: Go to the directory where you extracted CacheAdvisor.zip; then issue start_CA.bat.

Optional configurations:

  • Configure mapping rules for unknown objects in mapfile.xml (a sample is provided as mapfileSample.xml).
  • Configure Certainty Factor rules in rules.xml.
  • Configure thresholds, weights, and prior probabilities in config.properties.
