Platform requirements
- Windows® 95, 98, NT, 2000 (tested)
- all Java platforms
Hardware
an IBM-compatible PC with the following configuration:
- at least 100 Mhz processor
- 1 G hard drive
- 32 MB RAM (64 MB RAM recommended)
Software
- Sun's Java JDK 1.2 or above
- Sun's jaxp XML processor
- a Web browser (to view this file)
- a PDF reader (such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, to view the file gclp_report1.pdf)
- a PS reader (such as GhostView, to view the file gclp_report1.ps)
Installation instructions
Commonrules33.zip contains the documentation. After unzipping CommonRules33.zip, please go to the directory \docs\ readme.html for information on installation.
Please read the license agreement before installing this software.
- Choose a parent directory in which to install CommonRules; for example, "D:\CommonRules" (used hereafter as an example).
- Unzip the file Commonrules33.zip in the D:\CommonRules directory. Please see the documentation for information on the sub-directories.
- Set the CLASSPATH environment variable (used by Java) as follows.
- Put "." (current directory) and D:\CommonRules\commonrules30.jar (or D:\CommonRules\) on the CLASSPATH, as in this example:
- CLASSPATH = D:\CommonRules\commonrules30.jar; (or D:\CommonRules);
- On Windows 95 and 98: Edit the autoexec.bat file to include the ClASSPATH as desbribed above, and then restart the operating system.
- On Windows NT and 2000:
- Click on Start, Settings, and Control Panel.
- Choose the System icon on the menu, select the Environment tab, and change or add the CLASSPATH environment variable.
- Restart the operating system.
Please refer to the Windows NT or 2000 user guide for more information about the settings of environment variables.
- Click on Start, Settings, and Control Panel.
- Put "." (current directory) and D:\CommonRules\commonrules30.jar (or D:\CommonRules\) on the CLASSPATH, as in this example:
If you want to play with the XSB or Smodels rule systems (as opposed to just translating rule-set files that are in their rule language formats), then YOU MUST INSTALL THOSE RULE SYSTEMS SEPARATELY. See Reference pointers (6 and 7) for information on how to obtain those rule systems. XSB runs on Windows and on Unix; Smodels runs only on Unix.
