Software that allows management of a network of distributed machines; a subset of Cluster System Management AIX CSM.

Overview

Distributed Command Execution Manager has graduated.

Distributed Command Execution Manager has become a product. It is available through IBM Cluster Systems Management software.

It is also shipped with AIX®, as well as with IBM eServer Cluster 1350 for Linux®.

Sanaa Abdelhadi is a staff software engineer who joined IBM in 1999. She is a software developer in Java in the Web-based System Manager development group in Austin. She has worked on the Web-based System Manager framework for AIX 5L and on Distributed Command Execution Manager. Ms. Abdelhadi received her MS in Computer Science from Texas A&M University in 1998. She has worked at Compaq in system management software development and at Texas Instruments in embedded systems.



Jack Alford is a User-Centered Design practitioner who joined IBM in 1980, after receiving a PhD in Human Experimental Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. He has worked in Endicott, Dallas, and Austin on user interfaces for office products, operating systems, and system management tools. Currently, he is responsible for user interface design and evaluation in the AIX Web-based System Manager development group in Austin. Dr. Alford's non-IBM interests include sailing, organic gardening, and contemporary jazz.



Sandy Amin is a senior software engineer at IBM Austin. He has worked on a variety of projects at IBM including operating systems, various system management tools, frameworks, and desktop technologies. Highlights include AIX's SMIT (System Management Interface Tool), CDE (Common Desktop Environment), IBM WebExplorer, AIX 4.3, and AIX 5L Web-based System Manager. He has led the Distributed Command Execution Manager project. Mr. Amin's interests include OO design, distributed systems, and Java technologies. In his spare time, he likes to run, spend time with his son, and enjoy and collect wine.



Ofer Biran is current interest is in security, remote object technology, and distributed execution and system management. He has been a staff member at IBM's Haifa Research Lab since 1991 and has led various projects in the areas of network design and system management. Dr. Biran's main activity now is technology contribution to the Web-based System Manager for AIX. He also participates in writing the security aspects of the new iSCSI standard of the IETF. Dr. Biran received his DSc and BSc degrees from the Technion, Israel's Institute of Technology, in Computer Science. His academic research was in the area of distributed algorithms.



Kwan Yin Cheung is a staff software engineer at IBM Poughkeepsie's UNIX Development Laboratory. He is currently working on GUI development for Distributed Command Execution Manager for AIX 5L and Linux. He also supports AIX Web-based Systems Manager Java framework. Before joining the current organization, he developed C++ class libraries and several applications for Computer-Aid-Design in Fishkill Electronic Design Automation Laboratory. Mr. Cheung has been working for IBM since he graduated from Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, NY, in 1989. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and two MS degrees, one in Electrical Engineering and one in Computer Science. Mr. Cheung's areas of interest include Distributed Operating Systems, Object Oriented Design and Analysis, and Java technologies.



David Grost is a software engineer for IBM in Austin. He is currently working on the DCEM component of the Cluster Systems Management solution. Mr. Grost's past work includes Scene Graph technology and Direct3D driver development for Windows 2000.



John Hannon is a staff software engineer at IBM in Austin, where he has worked for 12 years. Mr. Hannon worked for the Network Computer Division before joining the WebSM framework team. In his spare time, he enjoys sailing, hiking, and skiing.



David Nip is an advisory software engineer at IBM Poughkeepsie. Over the past several years, he has worked on a variety of system management projects for IBM, including Web-based System Manager framework for AIX 5L and various system management GUIs for the RS/6000 SP systems. When not at IBM, Mr. Nip enjoys playing volleyball and tennis and spending time with his wife and three sons.



Danling Shi is a software engineer at IBM in Austin. She has been working on a variety of projects over the past several years: She worked on developing the JIT (Just In Time compiler for Java) on IA-64 for the Monterey project before joining the WebSM framework team. In her spare time, Ms. Shi likes to play with her young son and, if there is still time left for herself, she likes to read mystery novels.
