Distributed Image Management for Linux Clusters

Installation instructions

  1. Install the Distributed Image Management for Linux Clusters RPM package to /opt/dim, as follows:
    
    rpm -i dim-0.9.12-3.noarch.rpm
    
    
  2. Download the following non-standard Linux tools:
  3. Unpack and install the Perl libraries to /opt/dim/lib, as follows:
    
    make -f /opt/dim/doc/Makefile.perl
    make 
       -f /opt/dim/doc/Makefile.perl install
    
    
  4. Unpack the BusyBox package and apply the following configuration:
    
    tar xzf busybox-1.1.3.tar.gz
    cp 
       /opt/dim/doc/busybox.config 
       busybox-1.1.3/.config
    
    
  5. The BusyBox udhcp module needs a small patch to enable the rootpath option:
    
    patch -p0 < /opt/dim/doc/busybox.patch
    
    
  6. Build and install the BusyBox binary, as follows:
    
    cd busybox-1.1.3
    make
    cp busybox 
       /opt/dim/dist/busybox.x86
    
    
  7. For PowerPC®-based nodes BusyBox must be compiled on a ppc64 platform:
    
    cp busybox /opt/dim/dist/busybox.ppc
