Platform requirements for Enterprise Media Beans

Operating system: Windows 2000 or XP

Servers and Database:

• WebSphere® Application Server Base 5.0.2
• DB2 UDB Enterprise Edition 7.2 with Fix Pack 9
• IBM HTTP Server (IHS)

Software: WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.1 (optional)

Note: Two files are available for download: a reference implementation (RI) and a technology compatibility kit (TCK). These files are required in the Public Review phase of the Java Community Process (JCP) for the Enterprise Media Beans (JSR 086) specification. An Implementation is considered to be compatible with JSR 086 Version 1.0 if it passes all the tests in the TCK. Passing this test kit does not necessarily assure any compatability with future versions, if there are any.

Installation instructions for Enterprise Media Beans

EMB Technology Preview

1. Download the EMB_RI.zip file to your local disk. Extract the contents of the zip file into a directory on your file system. The following directories will be extracted:
ear
bin
source
documentation

javadoc


The table below provides a brief description of the contents of each folder:

Directory	Contents
ear	Contains the EMB RI Enterprise Application with binaries for installing and running on an Application Server
bin	Contains the table.ddl and createEMBRefImplDB.bat files for the set-up of the relational database
source	Contains the source code of each module and Java utility JAR
documentation	Contains the "Getting Started" guide as well as all javadocs for the EMB RI.

2. Continue with the "Getting Started" (GettingStarted.htm) guide in the documentation folder.

EMB Technology Compatability Kit

1. Download the EMBTCK.zip file to your local disk. Extract the contents of the zip file into a directory on your file system. The following directories will be extracted:
• ear
• embtest
• source
• documentation
• javadoc

embtest	Contains the sample resources for use in the compliance test as well as directories for the logging and interim processing of media
source	Contains the source code of each module and Java utility JAR
documentation	Contains the "Getting Started" guide as well as all javadocs for the EMB RI.
