1. How do I get help?

There are a few sources in which you can find help:
  • The User's Guide is accessible via the Start menu: Start > Programs > IBM Easy Website Builder.
  • The development team's site contains demonstrations of various versions of the tool and some additional information. The site will be updated from time to time, so you may want to check back.
  • The alphaWorks site is continually refreshed with information from users and the development team.

2. How do I resize pictures in my site?

When you add a picture to your site, you can select its style by clicking the Style tab of the properties dialog box, which is opened when you drop the picture on the work area of your page. Selecting the Thumbnail style, whose icon shows two pictures, one small and the other large, will enable you to resize the picture on your work area the same way you resize any other area. Other styles will show only the full-sized picture.

3. How do I exit without saving anything?

In order to make sure that you do not lose any of your work, the IBM Easy Website Builder saves your work as you do it. Therefore, when you quit, the last version of your work is saved. Users with more technical knowledge and familiarity with the Eclipse environment can directly access the site and delete it. Please note that this is an invasive action that will cause permanent loss of the site.

4. Where is my Web site stored?

The IBM Easy Website Builder stores your site locally on your computer's disk. This is the copy that you need in order to further modify your site. Once you send a site for deployment, the deployed site is stored separately on the computer that runs the Web server. This deployed copy cannot be modified using the IBM Easy Website Builder.

5. Where is the information that I enter in my lists stored?

The information that you enter while creating your site is stored in a local database that is part of the IBM Easy Website Builder package. This information is delivered with your site when you send it for deployment.

6. How do I know what a good Web site is supposed to look like?

The IBM Easy Website Builder helps you to some extent by providing predefined styles. There is a lot of common sense in creating a Web site. In addition, it is always helpful to visit other sites on the Web and find qualities that you like. Future versions of the IBM Easy Website Builder will provide even better guidance in creating smart sites.

7. How do I delete a Web site from my disk?

The IBM Easy Website Builder stores your site locally on your computer's disk. This is the copy that you need in order to further modify your site. If you choose to delete it, go to the folder in which you installed the IBM Easy Website Builder and locate inside it the folder named eclipse. Inside this folder should reside a folder named workspace. All your sites are stored in this folder. In order to remove a site (for such reasons as saving disk space), simply delete the folder with the same name. You will now no longer see that site in the list of available sites in the Welcome Wizard and won't be able to either edit or re-deploy it.
