What is IBM AIX Implementation of OpenPGP message format?
This tool is an implementation of RFC (Requests For Comments) 2440 on AIX® platform using the IBM® cryptographic library. RFC 2440 describes a open standard known as OpenPGP (PGP - Pretty Good Privacy). The protocol is based on combination of asymmetric-key (public-private key pair) and symmetric-key algorithms. This technology is used to ensure goals of security services such as privacy, authenticity, integrity, and non-repudiation (known as PAIN) of data. Here the data can be intended for transmission over wire or for storage on disk.
How does it work? IBM AIX Implementation of OpenPGP message format is in the form of a command line utility. The utility provides options for the following:
- key-pair generation (asymmetric key)
- import/export operations on public key portion
- encryption, decryption of data
- sign and verify operations on data
- ASCII armoring and de-armoring.
