Operating systems: Windows® 2000, XP

Software:

• DB2 Data Warehouse Edition 9.1
  or
  DB2 UDB 8.1.4 or 8.2, DB2 Intelligent Miner Modeling 8.2, and DB2 Intelligent Miner Scoring 8.2
• Microsoft Excel 2000 or XP
• Microsoft Data Access Components 2.7 (MDAC 2.7) or above. (You can check the version of MDAC installed on your system with Microsoft's Component Checker tool.)
• IBM OLE DB Provider for DB2 (comes with DB2 Application Development Client)
• For visualizing the mining models:
  • Sun Java Web Start Add-In 1.3 or above (Java 5.0 is not supported)
  • Intelligent Miner Visualization in DB2 Data Warehouse Edition 9.1 or DB2 Intelligent Miner Visualization 8.2

Installation instructions

1. Download and run the set-up file. You do not need to manually import the add-in with the Excel Add-in Manager.
2. Start Excel or use the DB2DataMining shortcut in the Windows Start Menu: Programs > IBM DB2 > Business Intelligence Tools > Intelligent Miner Excel Add-In > DB2DataMining.xla. The DB2 Data Mining pop-up menu is automatically added to the menu bar.
3. If the DB2 Data Mining pop-up menu is not created automatically:
   1. Click on Tools > Add-ins in the Excel menu bar to get to the Add-in Manager.
   2. Browse to the location where you installed the Intelligent Miner Add-In for MS Excel.
   3. Select the DB2DataMining.xla file and press OK. The DB2 Data Mining pop-up menu will be created.
