Operating systems: Any platform supporting Java 1.4
Installation instructions for Scripting for XML
Scripting for XML consists of a single .jar file that contains the interpreter, editor, and online help.
- Verify that you have Java 1.4 (or above) installed by entering the following command:
You should see something like this:
java version "1.4.1_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_02-b06)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_02-b06, mixed mode)
If you get an error message, or if the Java version is lower than 1.4, please install a new Java Run-time Environment.
- Download ScriptingForXML.<build-date>.jar (where <build-date> is the release date of the file).
- Start the Scripting for XML editor as follows:
java -jar ScriptingForXML.<build-date>.jar
- Select Help Topics from the Help menu (or press F1) for additional information.
Uninstalling Scripting for XML
Scripting for XML keeps window and directory preferences in a system-dependent registry. To uninstall Scripting for XML, including these registry entries, follow these steps:
- Start the editor as indicated above.
- Select Reset from the File menu in order to remove preferences from registry.
- Select Exit from the File menu.
- Remove ScriptingForXML.<build-date>.jar.
