Platform requirements

Operating systems: Windows® and AIX®

Hardware: This tool has been tested on Intel- and RISC-based platforms.

Software:

  • DB2® 8.1 or above. (Please e-mail the engineer if you wish to use this tool on any release of DB2 other than DB2 Version 8, Fixpak 9.)
  • Base table/original table on which the tool is to be run, with up-to-date statistics.

Installation instructions

  1. Download the TAR/ZIP file corresponding to your operating system and your version of DB2.
  2. Extract the contents into a temporary directory.
  3. Copy the files into the corresponding DB2PATH directories:
    1. copy db2mdcsizer to sqllib/bin/
    2. copy db2mdcsizer.bnd to sqllib//bnd/
    3. copy db2mdcsizer.mo to sqllib/msg/en_US.iso88591
  4. Run the tool from a DB2 command prompt or CLP.
