What is Mock Translation Input Method Editor?

The Mock Translation Input Method Editor (MT IME) provides programmers and testers with an easy way to enter pseudo-translated multilingual test data into a JavaTM application.

How does it work?

The MT IME intercepts the keyboard input event and converts the input text into a pseudo-translated text. The benefits of the MT IME are as follows:

  • Generation of good multilingual test data
  • Easy to install, learn, and use
  • Compatible with any Java Swing application
  • No foreign language skill is required for entering and verifying the multilingual test data.

About the technology author(s):
Rebecca Kocher is a software engineer at IBM Germany, Stuttgart, Germany. She was assigned to Tivoli in Austin, Texas, as an international intern in 2003. She is a student of the University of Cooperative Education in Stuttgart, Germany.

Keiichi Yamamoto is an advisory software engineer on the Tivoli Globalization Tools and Services team in Austin, Texas. He joined IBM Japan in 1989 and transferred to Tivoli in 1997. In Tivoli, he was responsible for various aspects of the software globalization, including architecture, design and programming, processes, testing, and consulting.

Steven Atkin is an advisory software engineer at the IBM Austin, Texas, development lab. He holds Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from Florida Tech. He supports various IBM product groups as a member of IBM's Globalization Center of Competency. Dr. Atkin's research interests include text encoding systems and bidirectional text layout.
