Installation instructions for Mouse Smoothing Software
- Download the self-extracting zip file Smoothing.exe to any convenient folder, and run it.
- Be sure to check the box to re-create the directories.
- The files will be extracted to the folder c:\smooth\. This folder name can be changed.
There will be a file Setup.exe in the chosen folder, a sub-folder Licenses with licenses in 13 languages, and a sub-folder Text Files with six text files and a picture. These files are as follows:
- Blurb.txt
- Requirements.txt
- Overview.txt
- Install.txt
- FAQ.txt
- Bio.txt
- JimLevine.jp
- If you agree with the licensing conditions, read Install.txt carefully to verify that your system meets requirements. Read this very carefully if you are installing on a laptop, have more than one mouse, have a mouse with special features such as a pointing stick, or have an unusal pointing device such as a head tracker.
- If all is OK, run Setup.exe. This will install drivers and other programs in the folder C:\Program Files\IBM Research\SmoothingSetup\. This folder name can be changed during the set-up. The text files will also be copied to a folder in this folder for convenience. Install.txt contains detailed instructions on using these programs to set up and adjust smoothing for your mouse.
