About the technology author(s):
Yuval Noimark is a research staff member at the IBM Research Lab in Haifa. He is a member of the Telecom and Media Systems group and leads the MPEG-4 project. Mr. Noimark received his B.Sc. in Computer Science from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology in 1997 and is in the process of writing his M.Sc. thesis on compression of synthetic video for the School of Computer Science at Tel Aviv University. Mr. Noimark joined the IBM Research Lab in Haifa in 1996. His research areas include Java multimedia, video compression, and computer graphics.

Konstantin Kupeev is a research staff member at the IBM Research Lab in Haifa. He is a member of the Telecom and Media Systems group. Dr. Kupeev received his M.Sc. in Mathematics from Moscow State University in 1984 and his Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from Tel Aviv University in 1998. His Ph.D. thesis was concerned with the recognition of global and partial perceptual shape similarity and related problems. His postdoctoral fellowships include the Pattern Recognition and Image Modeling Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Irvine, CA; and Computer Vision and Systems Laboratory, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Laval University, Quebec, Canada. Dr. Kupeev joined the IBM Research Lab in Haifa in 1998.

Ophir Azulai is a staff member of the IBM Research Lab in Haifa. He received his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the Technion, Israel's Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, in 2001. His areas of expertise are video compression technology, optimization techniques for multimedia algorithms, and multimedia streaming technology. Since 2000, Mr. Azulai has been working on various projects in speech and video processing.

Zohar Sivan manages the Telecom and Media Systems group at the IBM Research Lab in Haifa. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, in 1990 and 1993 respectively. Mr. Sivan joined the IBM Research Lab in Haifa in 1993 and, since then, has been involved in advanced research and development projects in multimedia. His research interests are in the area of video processing and compression, multimedia streaming technology, speech/audio compression, multimedia architectures, and digital signal processing algorithms.
