Platform requirements for P3P Policy Editor

Operating systems:
Any of the following:

Windows® NT Workstation 4.0 with Service Pack (SP) 3 or above
Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack (SP) 3 or above
Windows 98
Windows 2000 Professional
Windows 2000 Server
Windows XP Professional
AIX 4.3.2 or above
Solaris 2.7 or above (on SPARC processors only)
Red Hat Linux® 7 (on Intel processors only)
S.U.S.E. Linux 6.4 or above (on Intel processors only)

Java^TM tools: Version 1.2.2, 1.3.0, 1.3.1, or 1.4 of either the Java Development Kit (JDK) or the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Version 1.3.1 recommended.

Hardware:

Support for a communication adapter (recommended)
6 MB of free disk space
64 MB of memory
Display with 800 X 600 resolution and 256-color support

Installation instructions for P3P Policy Editor

P3P Policy Editor is provided in a single ZIP file, containing the installer for all four supported platforms.

1. Download and unpack the ZIP file
2. Run the appropriate set-up file. The set-up files (by platform) are as follows:

AIX: install.aix
Linux: install.linux
Solaris: install.solaris
Windows: setup.exe

Example (Windows):

c:\temp> unzip ibm-p3p-editor.zip
c:\temp> setup

Example (Linux):

/tmp/unpack> unzip ibm-p3p-editor.zip
/tmp/unpack> ./install.linux

The set-up program will then guide you through the rest of the installation process. The set-up program will search for one of the supported JDKs or JREs and will then use it to launch the installation wizard. The same JDK or JRE will be used to run P3P Policy Editor itself.

If the set-up program cannot find an installed and supported version of Java, then download the JRE 1.3.1_01 from Sun Microsystems at http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.3/index.jsp.

Please note that Java 1.4 is supported, but, due to font display issues on some systems, Java 1.3.1 is recommended.
