Partitioning Facility Editor for WebSphere Extended Deployment

An Eclipse plug-in that enables users to create partitions.xml files that can be used to define a WASXD application's partitions and partition expressions.

Installing PFE for WASXD

  1. Close Eclipse.
  2. Unzip PFE_Editor.zip into your Eclipse directory.
  3. Restart Eclipse.

Installing detailed online help

  1. Close Eclipse.
  2. Unzip PFE_Help.zip into your Eclipse directory.
  3. Restart Eclipse.

Accessing detailed online help from Eclipse

  1. Go to Help -> Help Contents.
  2. Select Partitioning Facility Editor for WebSphere Extended Deployment.

Creating new partitions.xml (For details, please see the online help.)

  1. First create a new file with a .wpf extension in your project.
  2. Double-click on this file to invoke the WPF Editor.
  3. Click on Add (under Regular Expressions) to add a regular expression by example.
  4. Enter your sample HTTP request, from which the request will be built.
  5. In order to build an ordered parameter list, drag and drop parameters or put in plain text.
  6. Click on Add (under Partitions) to add a partition name.
  7. Once your .wpf file has been saved, you may generate the partitions.xml file by right-clicking on the .wpf file and choosing Create partitions.xml.
