Platform requirements

Operating systems: Windows, Linux

Software:

  • IBM DB2 UDB 8.1
  • IBM DB2 Spatial Extender
  • IBM Websphere Application Server (WAS) 6.0

Installation instructions

  1. Download and unzip PLACESadmin.zip.
  2. Copy the folder atlas under C:\ (or the root directory in Linux).
  3. Install DB2.
  4. Install DB2SE.
  5. Import data schema into database: run SpatialDatabaseRelated\CreateS.bat
  6. Install WAS.
  7. Install PlacesAdminEAR.ear on WAS.
  8. Configure WAS admin console, as follows:
    1. From the menu, select Resource > JDBC Provider. Then create the JDBC provider (name:SpatialDatabase).
    2. From the menu, select Resource > JDBC Provider > SpatialDatabase. Then create the data source, using the following information:
        name: SpatialDatabase
        jndi name: jdbc/SpatialCatalogDataSource
        database name: SCATALOG
        servername: localhost
        port: 50000
    3. From the menu, select Environment > WebSphere Variable. Then perform the following:
      DB2UNIVERSAL_JDBC_DRIVER_PATH assign as ${WAS_INSTALL_ROOT}/db2
      DB2_JDBC_DRIVER_PATH  assign as ${WAS_INSTALL_ROOT}/db2
      

    4. Copy the DB2 driver to ${WAS_INSTALL_ROOT}/db2.
    5. Restart WAS.
  9. Navigate to http://<hostname>:<port>/PlacesAdmin.
