Platform requirements
Development platform
Operating system: Windows® 2000 Professional or XP Professional
Hardware:
- Intel Pentium, AMD Opteron, or other compatible x86 processor at 500 MHz or above
- 1.3 GB minimum hard disk space
- 512 MB minimum physical memory; 1 GB recommended
- screen resolution: 1024 x 768 pixels, 256 colors (minimum). Recommended: 1280 x 1024 pixels or above, 16-bit color or above
- any mouse or pointing device with at least two buttons.
Software:
- Java™ 2 Standard Edition Run-time Environment 1.4 or above
- WebSphere Studio Device Developer (WSDD) 5.7.1
- WebSphere Identification Tracking Toolkit (WITT) 1.0.2
- Ptolemy II 4.0.1 from University of California at Berkeley (not the most recent version; with a recent version, such as 5.0.1, correct behaviour cannot be guaranteed)
- Web browser: Internet Explorer 6.0 or above.
Run-time platform
Operating system: Windows 2000 Professional or XP Professional; Arcom Embedded Linux v3i7 (not supported in this evaluation release)
Hardware:
- Intel Pentium, AMD Opteron, or other compatible x86 processor at 500 MHz or above; or embedded Intel ARM processor (not supported in this evaluation release)
- 10 MB minimum hard disk or flash storage space
- 256 MB minimum physical memory for Windows platform
- 32 MB minimum physical memory for embedded platform; 64 MB recommended (not supported in this evaluation release).
Software:
- Java 2 Standard Edition Run-time Environment 1.4 or above for Windows platform
- J9 with jclRM libraries for embedded platform (not supported in this evaluation release)
- IBM Service Management Framework (SMF) 3.52 or above.
Installation instructions
- Make sure all prerequsites are installed on your machine.
- Close WSDD 5.7.1.
- Create a Windows shortcut that starts WSDD with J2SE 1.4 JRE; then restart WSDD.
- Create a Java JRE named
Java 1.4 in the WSDD preferences page.
- Create a Java classpath variable PTOLEMY_HOME pointing to the Ptolemy installation directory.
- Install WITT 1.0.2.
- Verify that Java classpath variables OAF_HOME and SMF_CLIENT are created properly.
- Install RISE 1.0.0.
- Verify that the Java classpath variable RISE_HOME is created properly.
- Create a new SMF bundle server configuration.
- Run
SMF bundle server.
- Import the RISE bundles to the bundle server.
