Platform requirements for Remote System Management Tool

Operating systems:

• RSMT server: Windows 2000, XP
• Managed remote servers: AIX®, HP-UX, Solaris, Linux®, Windows

Hardware for RSMT server:

• 256 MB RAM
• 125 MB hard disk space

Software for RSMT server:

• Eclipse 3.0.2
• STAF 2.6.8

Software for managed remote servers: STAF 2.6.8 (STAF 3.x is not supported.)

Installation instructions for Remote System Management Tool

RSMT server

1. Install and configure STAF as follows:
a. Download STAF268-setup-win32.exe from staf.sourceforge.net and follow the default installation instructions. b. Append following line to <StafInstallDirectory>/bin/STAF.cfg: TRUST DEFAULT LEVEL 5 c. Start STAF.
2. Install Eclipse 3.0.2 as follows:
1. Download eclipse-SDK-3.0.2-win32.zip from www.eclipse.org.
2. Unzip the file to the directory in which you want to install Eclipse.
3. Install the RSMT plug-in as follows:
1. Download and unzip the file.
2. Copy plugins/org.eclipse.ite_1.0.1 to <Eclipse Install Dir>/plugins.
4. Start Eclipse.
5. Select Window -> Open perspective -> Other -> Remote System Management in order to start the tool.

Managed remote server

Install and configure STAF as follows:

1. Download STAF268-setup-win32.exe from staf.sourceforge.net and follow the default installation instructions.
2. Append following line to <StafInstallDirectory>/bin/STAF.cfg:
TRUST DEFAULT LEVEL 5
3. Start STAF.
