SCA Component for Ruby with IBM WebSphere Process Server

A prototype that provides the capability of implementing an SCA component as a Ruby script and invoking it using the BSF functionality provided by JRuby.

Platform requirements

Operating systems: all platforms supported by WebSphere Process Server, Release 6.0.1

Software:

  • WebSphere Process Server (WPS) 6.0.1 (required for running the sample)
  • JRuby 0.83 or above
  • Eclipse 3.x with EMF+SDO+XSD 2.0.x

Installation instructions

  1. Please check the following attachments in your package:
    • sca-ruby.jar
    • scdl-ruby.jar
    • howto.ruby.zip
    • sca-ruby.was.userlibraries
  2. Start Eclipse 3.x.
  3. Set your Java Run-time Environment to point to the one shipped with WPS.
  4. Create a classpath variable called JRUBY_HOME and point to the directory in which JRuby was installed.
  5. Download sca-ruby.jar and scdl-ruby.jar and copy them to the lib folder of your WPS installation.
  6. Download the sca-ruby.was.userlibraries and replace the C:\WBI601 with the folder in which you installed WPS. Import the user library into your workspace.
  7. Download howto.ruby.zip and import the project into your workspace.

In order to execute the sample, run HowToMyValueClient.java.
