Brett Gavagni is a staff software engineer for IBM, where he has been working since 1999. He is currently working on the Websphere Voice Server within the Voice Browser team with a focus on VoiceXML implementation. Mr. Gavagni has worked on the WebSphere Voice Server with the Telephony and Media team since 1999; his focus was on voice over IP (VoIP) protocols, including H.323 and SIP. He has also worked for IBM Global Services in the insurance industry. Mr. Gavagni received a B.S. in Management Information Systems and Computer Science from Florida State University in 1998. His work-related interests are protocols for IP-based telephony and for media, and speech enablement of pervasive interfaces.

Joseph Celi is a senior software engineer for IBM, where he has been working since 1987. He is currently working in the Telephony and Media group, serving the Websphere Voice Server. His current area of concentration is in providing solutions based on voice-over-IP. Dr. Celi received his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Polytechnic University in 1987, his Master's degree in Computer Science from Nova University in 1992, and his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering in 1998. For his Ph.D. dissertation, Dr. Celi invented a video compression algorithm called the "The Interlaced Pixel Delta CODEC: For transmission of video on low bit rate communication lines."
