Andreas Schade joined IBM's Zurich Research Lab in 1994 after completing his Master's Degree in Computer Science at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. He received an IBM Research Division Award in September 1995 for his contributions to the HECS (HL7/EDIFACT Communication Subsystem) project. HECS provides reliable message, content-based routing, and flexible message format for network medical applications.
Mr. Schade received an IBM Research Division Award in February 1997 for the development of J2C++. J2C++ is an automatic interfacing tool between C++ and Java. Given an interface definition for an existing C++ library, J2C++ generates Java bridging code, which can be used to access C++ objects as if they were written in Java. In his spare time, Mr. Schade is working toward his Ph.D. degree.
Thomas Eirich
Thomas Eirich earned both a master's degree in computer science and a Ph.D. in engineering at the University of Erlangen in Nuremburg. He has been with IBM since January of 1996. Cryptography for Java is Dr. Eirich's other major development at IBM.
