Platform requirements for Stylesheet Splicer
Operating systems: Windows® NT 4.0 or 2000
Disk space: 15 MB (including space for XML4C, XLST4C, and ICU DLLs)
Installation instructions for Stylesheet Splicer
The package consists of two self-extracting zip files:
xml4C540_xlst4C17_dlls.EXE
stylesheet_splicer_install.EXE
- Choose an installation directory. Before in can run Stylesheet Splicer, Windows must be able to find its DLLs.
It does so by consulting the PATH environment variable.
- From a command line, type "path" and choose a directory from the PATH list
OR
Go to Settings, Control Panel, System, (Advanced), Environment and add a directory you have created to the PATH list. (A period "." in the PATH list means "the current working directory." Windows 2000 adds the "." implicitly.)
- Go to Settings, Control Panel, System, (Advanced), Environment and add a variable to your environment by typing in the Variable and Value fields:
XERCESC_NLS_HOME
d:\your\directory\here (that is, whatever path you've selected)
The program may run even when this variable is not in the environment, but the XML4C documentation recommends it.
- Unzip the self-extracting xml4C540_xslt4C17_dlls.EXE by typing its name at a command line. Be sure the target directory is the one chosen in Step 1. The eight files unzipped are as follows:
xml4c_5_4_0.dll
XML4CMessages5_4_0.DLL
XML4CMessages_en_US.res
xslt4c_1_7_0.dll
xslt4cMessages_1_7_0.dll
icudt26l.dll
icuin26.dll
icuuc26.dll
- In the same directory, or another directory in the PATH list, unzip the self-extracting file Stylesheet_Splicer_install.EXE, clicking on the Recreate subdirectories box.
This unpacks four files, three of which must remain together in the same directory:
Styler.exe
Styler.hlp
Styler.cnt
Xalan.exe (command line utility that can go anywhere)
The samples directory contains 15 files, which you may move anywhere.
For further information and instructions, type "Styler" on a command line to start the program and find the "Quick Start" section under "Help, Help topics." (Note the instructions to double-click twice.) More information about Installation is available under "How to install."
