What is the Telecom Web Services Toolkit Preview?

IBM's Telecom Web Services Toolkit Preview enables any ISV or Web developer without specialized telecom knowledge to build telecom-enabled applications. This toolkit is an extension to WebSphere® Studio Application Developer; it supports the integration of e-business applications with the telecom network.

The toolkit includes an integrated simulator that provides an end-to-end solution for developing and testing Telecom applications that use Parlay X APIs. Parlay X Standards are a set of simplified telecom APIs based on Web services published by the Parlay Group and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI); these standards are in the standardization process at the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP).

How does it work?

This version of the IBM Telecom Web Services Toolkit Preview contains APIs that are compliant with the latest 2.0 release of the Parlay X standard. The toolkit will operate in either a Windows or Linux environment as a plug-in to WebSphere Studio Application Developer. The toolkit further simplifies application building by incorporating Web service support and Parlay X interfaces into the integrated development environment of WebSphere Studio Application Developer 5.1.2.

The toolkit contains sample applications, code snippets, a service simulator, an integrated test environment, online help, and documentation.
