Platform requirements
The only requirement is the ability to run Eclipse 3.1 or above and the UML2 API Version 1.0.3 or equivalent. However, if you are installing the RAS (Reusable Asset Specification) form, you also need Rational Software Architect (RSA) 6.0.1.
Installation instructions
If you are installing the RAS form, you need Rational Software Architect (RSA) 6.0.1 or above because it is the first version of RSA that supports RAS Feature installations. The RAS Asset functionality in RSA allows for the installation of Eclipse plug-ins, provided that they are packaged as installable plug-ins and not typical resources. In order to install the utilities via this approach, you must first download the RAS asset onto your local workstation.
- Select File > Import from the main menu. Select RAS Asset as the import source.
- Browse through your file system and find the RAS file that you downloaded.
- You should be prompted with an dialog box indicating that the RAS asset includes an installed plug-in or feature.
- Accept the terms of the agreement; for M1, the details of the license and agreement have yet to be incorporated into the release. Press Next.
- Select a destination into which to install the feature. (A useful practice when adding new functionality to RSA, especially when you are creating it yourself, is to create a special location where you habitually install all "extra" plug-ins. This practice makes it easy to find and correct any problematic plug-ins.) In order to complete the import and installation, press the Finish button.
- The RAS importer will prompt you with a message saying that before you can use the installed plug-ins, you must restart your workstation. Press OK, and your workspace will be restarted.
- In order to verify the installation, select Help > About > Plug-in Details... from the main menu and search for the two plug-ins that make up the core of the utilities: com.ibm.mda and com.ibm.mda.ct.
