In her previous work, Ms. Chao was the key developer for the first prototype that integrates Web services with IBM WebSphere Business Integrator (WBI), showcased at major conferences such as JavaOne and XMLDev Conf. She also designed the end-to-end Web service security model, based on J2EE and IBM WebSphere, for a WBI-related platform. In a collaborative e-commerce project, Ms. Chao led the design and development of a eMarket membership subsystem and a Digital Signature Server for Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). Before joining the Research Division in 1999, she worked at the IBM Transaction Processing Facility Development Lab. Ms. Chao received a Master's degree in Computer Science from Virginia Tech and her Bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University. You can reach her here.
Dr. Liang-Jie Zhang is a research staff member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. He is part of the e-commerce research team with a focus on collaborative business process integration and management innovations. Dr. Zhang has more than 12 years of experience in creating novel technologies and products for e-business integration, streaming media, and intelligent information appliances. He is actively leading the research of Web services and grid computing technologies for business process integration and design collaboration.
Dr. Zhang has numerous patents, and he has published more than 60 technical papers in journals (including Web Services Journaland Web Services Architect) and conference proceedings. He was presented with the "Best Paper Award" of the International Conference on Neural Networks and Signal Processing in 1995, the IBM "Outstanding Technical Achievement Award" for HotMedia architecture in 1999, the "Best Paper Award" of the Sixth World Multi-Conference on Systemics, Cybernetics, and Informatics (SCI 2002) in 2002, and the Achievement Award of the 2002 International Multi-Conference in Computer Science by World Academy of Science in 2002.
Dr. Zhang is the vice-chairman of communications for the IEEE Task Force on E-Commerce and program chairman of the IEEE Conference on E-Commerce (CEC 2003). He has been chairing "Web Services Computing" at IC 2002, "Web Services and Multimedia" at IEEE MSE 2002, and other conferences. He is the member of IEEE and ACM. Dr. Zhang received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at Xidian University in 1990, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong University in 1992, and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering at Tsinghua University in 1996. Hung-yang (Henry) Chang is the manager of B2B Service Infrastructure in the e-Commerce Research Department at IBM's T. J. Watson Research Center. His recent focus includes dynamic Web service framework, collaborative e-hub infrastructure, and distributed Web process management. From 1999 to 2000, he was the lead architect of the IBM enterprise "extranet" for large enterprise customers, focusing on end-to-end content management for a large B2B procurement.
Before joining ibm.com, Dr. Chang conducted research on mobile application infrastructure, data replication, and Web database transaction management. He has lead research projects that focus on mobile access to enterprise information sources, such as remote file systems, World-Wide Web, and transactional databases. His previous projects include adaptation of MACH microkernel to large-scale multiprocessors, distributed simulation, and distributed scheduling algorithms. Dr. Chang also taught "distributed object computing" at Polytech of New York. He is the co-chair of the Data Synchronization workgroup of Mobile NC Reference Specification. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences from University of Wisconsin at Madison (1987) and a B.S. in Electric Engineering from National Taiwan University. Dr. Chang is a member of ACM. John Colgrave is a senior software engineer in the TP Architecture team at IBM's Hursley Laboratory in the United Kingdom. He is the architect of the IBM WebSphere UDDI Registry and associated technologies, and he was a contributor to the UDDI Version 3 Specification. He is a member of the British Computer Society and is a chartered engineer. Mr. Colgrave received a Master's degree in Computer Science and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, both from the University of Manchester, England. You can reach him here.
