VitalFile for Simplified Document Retention (in combination with VitalFile for Real-Time Workstation Protection) has become a product: IBM Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files.About the technology author(s)
The VitalFile team has been writing file system drivers for over eight years and has many patents (issued and pending) around innovative file system capabilities. The original product designed was SANergy; it allowed acceleration of LAN file server traffic by transparently redirecting the payload to a fast SAN fabric. Experience with SANergy led to the creation of a generalized file system extender technology called FilePath. The various VitalFile products (Real-Time Workstation Protection and Simplified Document Retention, among others) are essentially different "faces" on the fundamental FilePath rules-based driver. The overall VitalFile team consists of a mere 12 members and includes architecture, development, functional and system testing, and support.
