Francisco Curbera is a research staff member at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center. He joined the IBM Madrid Scientific Center in 1989 and IBM Research in 1993, where he is now part of the Extended Transaction Systems group. Dr. Curbera has worked developing tag programming languages for user programming, interfaces, algorithms for processing XML documents, and XML-based component composition, among other projects. He holds a BS in Physics from the University of Madrid and a PhD in Computer Science from Columbia University.
Matthew J. Duftler is a software engineer at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center. He has been with IBM since September 1996 and has been at Watson since October 1997. Mr. Duftler divides his time between working for IBM and serving in the United States Marine Corps.
William A. Nagy is a software engineer at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center. He is a member of the Interactive Transaction Systems group and has worked at IBM/Watson since 1994. Mr. Nagy's research interests include the development of wide-area distributed services and the infrastructure necessary to use and support them.
Sanjiva Weerawarana is a research staff member at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center, where he has been since August 1997. His research is centered around application frameworks for building network computing applications in Java. Dr. Weerawarana represents IBM in the W3C XSL working group and is using XSL in developing better user interface tools that support the separation of content and style. He was previously a Visiting Assistant Professor of Computer Sciences at Purdue University, where he was since 1994. Dr. Weerawarana received his BS (1988) and MS (1989) in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science from Kent State University and his PhD (1994) in Computer Science from Purdue University.
Tian Zhao is a PhD student in computer science at Purdue University. His research interests are programming languages and related topics. He worked as an intern at IBM's T.J. Watson Research Center in the summer of 2000. Mr. Zhao received his BS (1994) from ZhongShan University (P. R. China), MS (1998) in Economics, and MS (1999) in Computer Science from Purdue Unversity.
